Mark Marshall Bradford City - Oct '16

Children from LKS2 had a special visit from Bradford City's Mark Marshall who came to meet the children and speak to them about life as a professional sportsman.  The children listened to him talk about his career, asked him questions, gave him poems they had written, had their photographs taken and collected his autograph. Mark spoke in detail about what sacrifices he needed to make in order to be the best professional footballer he could be.  He explained that it was always his dream to be a footballer and that to become the best footballer he can be he has needed to stay focused, stay healthy, work hard and always listen to his manager.  The children then compared this to their school lives and realised that to be the best they can be they needed to have a similar attitude.   He also talked to the children about how he never gave up.  He has had many challenges and setbacks in his career but he has always shown resilience and persistence in his training despite injuries or form.  This linked perfectly to the work year 3 have been doing about Growth Mindset and becoming independent and resilient learners.  The children really enjoyed the experience of meeting a Bradford City superstar and he was great with the class.  The children loved showing Mark their work and now know if they work hard, follow instructions and work as a team then they too can follow their dreams.

His visit was also covered in the newspaper
