Curriculum Information


What we will find out about:

  • How to write a mythical narrative using Theseus and the Minotaur as the inspiration
  • How to write a newspaper report – using our knowledge from Theseus and the Minotaur
  • How writers convey imagery through powerful language and sentence structures.


What we will find out about:

  • Reading graphs and interpreting what they are telling us
  • How mixed numbers and improper fractions are inverse
  • Adding and subtracting fractions
  • Finding fractions of amounts
  • Adding and subtracting fractions
  • Equivalent fractions
  • How to reason using the four operations


What we will find out about:

  • The civilisation and empire that is Ancient Greece
  • When it existed and where
  • What the Ancient Greeks achieved and how they are still evident today
  • How they formed the first instance of democracy
  • Famous Greek pioneers and what they achieved
  • How their legacy lives on today – the Olympics!

The children will understand why unsupported objects fall towards Earth. They will be able to explain different forms of resistance and what effect they have.


The over-arching question will be ‘Why are certain people, places and times sacred?’ This will be explored via Christianity, Islam and Sikhism. The main festivals of these religions will be compared also.


The children will be learning about their place in the wider world! They will appreciate how their relationships with one another can impact upon their safety and happiness on a day-to-day basis.


Indoor P.E. will be delivered by Bradford City. Outdoor P.E. will be invasion games and how to act in competitive situations.


Homework will link with basic skills English and maths.

English –

  • Reading – a book talk grid about any reading they have done that week.
  • Spellings – linked to the patterns being learned in class
  • Bug Club – children are expected to read one book per week on Bug Club

Maths – children will be aware of their passport targets and need to learn these at home. Each week your child will be set Mathletics tasks that they need to complete – Mathletics can also be used to support any mental maths work with our passports.
