Football coaching - Jul '13

Former Leeds United, Scunthorpe United, Barnsley and Farsley AFC player Mark Jackson and FA coach Anthony Gallagher came to Fearnville to do a coaching session with year 4.   The boys really enjoyed it and loved asking Mark about his professional career.  They asked lots of questions, some of which are below.

Q- Who is the best player you have ever played with?

A - I played with Rio Ferdinand and Michael Owen with the England youth team.

Q- Who were the best team you played against?

A- Manchester United at Old Trafford, they had Roy Keane playing for them and he was very hard to play against.

Q- What do managers and coaches look for in players?

A- Managers always look for people who try hard and listen well to instructions.  They look for dedication, attitude and effort over natural talent.

Bradford Park Avenue v Hinckley United

Fearnville FC v Parkinson Lane.

We were lucky enough to be welcomed back to Bradford Park Avenue's 3,500 capacity Horsfall Stadium and play on the pitch at half time during BPA's game against Hinckley United.

Bradford Park Avenue stormed to victory defeating Hinckley United 4-0 but the main event was again at half time as Fearnville Primary played Parkinson Lane Primary.

It was a tough game as Parkinson Lane are current Halifax Primary Schools Cup folders and champions of the FC Halifax Town cup.  Unfortunately they beat Fearnville 1-0 in a close and tense game.

The boys however loved playing in front of the stadium, playing on the flood lit pitch and seeing their names and photo in the programme again.

Hopefully we can visit again soon.  For more information about Bradford Park Avenue you can visit their website here http://tc1.bpafc.com/.
